Racing the 29er puts the role of crew and skipper on equal footing. The shared responsibility and experience of the 29er creates a more balanced platform compared to other two person dinghies.

The skiff is designed for the crew to trim the mainsail from the trapeze (while skipper trims jib) upwind. While the role of the crew is more physical (trapezing, hoisting, dousing spinnaker, trimming sails), with the crew as the larger more mature individual typical pairings are made with more experienced crew with a younger, smaller helm.
